After 21 Years in Prison, Brian Edward Franklin Gets A New Trial

Yesterday, a Tarrant County court set bail at $10,000 for Brian Edward Franklin as the result of an April 6, 2016, per curiam opinion from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals ruling that the former Forth Worth police officer, was denied due process in his aggravated sexual assault trial 21 years ago when his accuser offered perjured testimony against him that caused others to give false testimony resulting in Franklin’s conviction.

Tarrant County prosecutors have exercised their privilege to retry Franklin. A trial date has not be set.
