Lisa Soest, 21, of Imperial, Missouri, will go on trial for felony disorderly conduct and obstruction of justice, based on a false claim that she was raped in the parking lot of an Illinois nightclub. On February 4th, Soest told Collinsville Police that she had been raped in the parking of Wild Country. Subsequent investigation revealed that Soest lied about the rape.
Soest filed a request for change of venue to the Mental Health Court in Madison County, Illinois. (The “Never Her Fault” defense will one day be more famous than the Chewbacca defense) Circuit Judge Kyle Napp denied the request on the grounds that the mental health court is only available to residents of Madison County.
Soest’s trial is set for July 18th of this year. Soest is currently free on $5,000 bond. If convicted, Soest faces 1-3 years in prison.
